Both Lady Gaga and Avril Lavigne make great gains on the Social 50 this week, following their respective new song releases.
The Social 50 ranks the most popular artists on YouTube, Vevo, Facebook, Twitter, SoundCloud, Wikipedia, Myspace and Instagram. The chart's methodology blends weekly additions of friends/fans/followers along with artist page views, song plays and reactions as measured by music analytics company Next Big Sound. 

Lady Gaga moves 32-12 after releasing the lyric video to her song “Aura” on Oct. 9. The clip also doubles as a trailer to the Robert Rodriguez film “Machete Kills” (in which Gaga has a small role). It helped drive a 253% growth in her Social 50 fan base, along with 567,000 new followers to her the various social accounts measured for the chart.

Right behind Gaga is Avril Lavigne, who climbs 35-13 after the release of her new video for “Let Me Go” on Oct. 15. The collaboration with her new husband (and Nickelback front man) Chad Kroeger helped drive a portion of the 16 million global plays to Lavigne¹s Vevo channel in the week ending Oct. 20 (up 57%).
Lavigne also grows her fan base by 473,000, up 81% compared to the previous week.

Meanwhile, at No. 40, Dutch house DJ Hardwell debuts at after being crowned the No. 1 position on DJ Mag’s fan-voted Top 100 DJs list on Oct. 19. The event drove a 90% rise in online conversation about the artist, who added over 280,000 fans to his audience this week.
Inna re-enters at No. 47. The 27 year old Romanian pop star released a new music video on Wednesday, October 16  entitled “In Your Eyes” featuring the prominent Latin Urban artist Yandel, of Wisen & Yandel fame. The video helped drive 4.25 million plays to Inna’s YouTube channel, and her audience receives a 28% jump in weekly growth (she added 261,000 new fans overall).

Back in the top 10, Miley Cyrus remains at No. 1 for the sixth straight week. Katy Perry rises 3-2 as we await the arrival of her anticipated No. 1-debut on the Billboard 200 albums chart, "Prism."
Eminem flies into the top five, moving 12-3 after releasing his new single “Rap God” to his YouTube channel, which drove a 15 million views to the channel for the week (a 1158% increase over the previous).
Ariana Grande continues her climb and moves 8-4, as does Nicki Minaj, who bounds 15-5 after a week full of television promotion surrounding the launch of her new line of clothing at K-Mart. Britney Spears falls (2-6), as does Demi Lovato (6-7), Bruno Mars (7-8) and Rihanna (5-9). Justin Timberlake rises 11-10 to anchor the top 10.
