Britney Spears is in a giving mood, revealing the cover art for her eighth studio album and posting a hand-written message to fans on Friday, preparing them for her "most personal record yet."
In a note on the singer's website, Spears says she'll be "putting the finishing touches" on "Britney Jean" (out Dec. 3) in the next few days.
"I poured my heart and soul into this album and it's been an incredible journey," she writes. "I've learned a lot about myself, and as I am finishing, I am reminded of the incredible foundation that has supported me for the last 15 years. "
Britney Spears writes a letter to her fans the old-fashioned way.
For "Britney Jean," Spears has worked with producers and songwriters including Will.i.am, William Orbit and this week's Billboard cover star, Sia. She promises an eclectic mix of songs.
"They have listened to all of my ideas and helped me bring them to life," she says of her contributors. "There are a lot of really fun, upbeat dance songs, but it was important to me that I show my strength, and my attitude, and my vulnerability."
That attitude is on full display on the "Jean" album cover, which features Spears in an intense stare-down with the camera along with slight pout on her lips. The only splash of color is the pink heart and neon lettering with the album title.
"I want to show you the different sides of Britney Spears," she says in her letter to fans. "I am a performer. I am a Mom. I am funny. I am your friend! I am Britney Jean."
The singer's eighth studio effort has been preceded by the single "Work Bitch," which peaked at No. 13 on the Hot 100 chart (It slips to No. 28 this week).
