Colbie Caillat will sing the national anthem at tonight's World Series game 3 in St. Louis. On Sunday, country veterans Rascal Flatts will do the same before game 4, Billboard has confirmed.
Caillat will be making her first appearance as performer of "The Star-Spangled Banner" at the third game of the series between the St. Louis Cardinals and the Boston Red Sox at Busch Stadium. Caillat is no stranger to baseball, however; the Californian performed tracks from her Christmas album, "Christmas in the Sand," at an MLB Fan Cave appearance last year.
Each of Caillat's non-holiday LPs have hit the Billboard 200 top 10, with 2009's "Breakthrough" topping the chart. Her last release, "Christmas in the Sand," peaked at No. 41.
With 14 No. 1 country singles under their belts, Racal Flatts has been one of the most successful country bands of the past 12 years, with hits like "What Hurts the Most" and "Here Comes Goodbye." They have frequently performed the national anthem at events ranging from the Kentucky Derby, NFL and college football games and the Brickyard 400 in 2011.
Caillat and Rascal Flatts follow in the recent footsteps of Mary J. Blige and James Taylor. Blige took the mic for game 1 of this year's World Series in Boston (despite her standing as a longtime New York Yankees fan), while Taylor performed at game 2.
The World Series now goes to St. Louis with both teams tied at one win apiece. The Fall Classic will remain in Missouri through game 5 before heading back to Boston, if necessary. As first reported by Billboard, the Fox telecast of the series features music from Pearl Jam's catalog, including the entire rundown of the band's chart-topping new album "Lightning Bolt."
