Justin Bieber's strikingly somber 'Music Mondays' release season rolls on with "Recovery," the fourth entry in his 10-song series and one that specifically details the dissolution of a relationship -- presumably, the pop superstar's failed romance with Selena Gomez.

"First I'll acknowledge, our trust has been broken," Bieber laments over the busy R&B arrangement, sounding dejected before hinting at a possible return to happiness: "A successful recovery, I pray for us at night/Bless me with a second chance, never thought I'd see your face again/Learned a lot through trial and error, I try to make it right." With its strolling guitar line, echoing percussion and limitlessly soulful performance by Bieber, "Recovery" sounds like a down-tempo version of Craig David's "Fill Me In," which is the highest of compliments.
"It's here. One of the most important songs to me I've ever written. ‪#Recovery‬ . Hope it helps you!" Bieber posted on Twitter when his new song was released on Monday (Oct. 28) at midnight. "Recovery" follows "Heartbreaker," "All That Matters" and "Hold Tight" -- all of which offer a stark contrast to Bieber's uptempo dance-pop tracks -- in his 'Music Mondays' series, which concludes in mid-December.

"Justin had this complete body of work that was very different from the stuff he had done in the past -- very R&B-driven, personal songs, not necessarily songs that he was thinking of as radio records," Scooter Braun, the singer's manager, told Billboard earlier this month. "That's why he called them 'journals.' They're very, very personal to what he's been feeling over the last six months, going through a tough time. If you listen to the lyrics in these songs -- 'Heartbreaker,' 'All That Matters' -- he's pouring his heart out."

The exclamation mark at the end of 'Music Mondays' will be the release of "Believe 3D," the follow-up film to 2011's "Never Say Never," on Christmas Day. "All That Matters" debuted at No. 24 on last week's Hot 100 chart; before that, "Heartbreaker" peaked at No. 13 on the chart.
